Dec. 2, 1944  
1315 Underway for Exmouth in company with USS DACE conducting training exercises enroute.
   
Dec. 5, 1944  
0725 Moored to yard oiler in Exmouth Gulf. Commenced taking on fuel.
   
1630 Underway for area.
   
1815 Conducted drill firing of 5" gun on wreck off Vlaming Head.
   
1830 Set course for Lombok Strait.
   
2340 Radar contact on H.M.S. STOIC. Avoided.
   
Dec. 8, 1944  
2100 Commenced transit of Lombok. USS DACE 2,000 yards astern.
   
2140 First of a series of six radar contacts (SHIP CONTACTS 1 through 6) which were tracked by plot and avoided by much maneuvering.
   
2355 Cleared Stait.
   
Dec. 10, 1944  
1415 Sighted small AK about 100 tons (SHIP CONTACT #7). Due close proximity to Karimata Strait decided to avoid on the surface.
   
1945 Entered Karimata Strait.
   
Dec. 11, 1944  
0430 Cleared Karimata. Passage uneventful.
   
Dec. 13, 1944  
1755 Sighted ship bearing 105 degrees True (SHIP CONTACT #8). Estimated range about 35,000 yards. Commenced end around run planning to attack after dark
