Minutes of the Bergall Association
2017 Reunion, Nashville

 

Meeting Minutes from 2017 Reunion

1.       Meeting called to order at 1602.

2.       The group was welcomed, the Association officers were introduced.

3.       Last year’s meeting minutes were read by the secretary, and Al Yancey proposed, seconded by Mike Sobkowski, that the minutes be approved. They were approved by unanimous vote.

4.       The Treasurer’s report was read by the treasurer.

5.       The Vice President gave membership update and communications update.

6.       Mike Sobkowski gave the Scholarship Committee update.

New Business

1.       There was discussion about the creation of the Bergall Memorial Scholarship Fund, (a 501C3).

2.       Mike Sobkowski proposed, Sam Hornreich seconded, to pursue the Fund and 501C3 status, vote was approved unanimously.

3.       Bryan Waller proposed, seconded by Mike Sobkowski, to raise the scholarship amount rewarded from $500 to $1000. The proposal was approved by unanimous vote.

4.       Bryan Waller proposed, seconded by Sam Hornreich, that the proceeds from the silent auction be donated to the general fund, the proposal was approved by unanimous vote.

5.       Bryan Waller proposed, seconded by Sam Hornreich, that the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle be donated to the scholarship fund, the proposal was approved by unanimous vote.

6.       The general consensus was there is no desire for mailed birthday cards to be restarted.

7.       There was a proposal from Roy Aders to have a dress code for the banquet meal, with a suggestion from Mike Ward that the clothing should be Submarine related. There was a motion from Sam Hornreich, seconded by Bill Scarborough, that the dress code motion be tabled. Motion was voted on and approved by majority vote, with 1 vote abstained.

8.       Discussion of where next year’s reunion should be held was had, the 4 choices and the votes for them were as follows:

a)      Camden NJ – 0 votes

b)      Cleveland OH – 1 vote

c)       Kings Bay GA – 18 votes

d)      Little Rock AR – 24 votes

9.       Little Rock AR was selected as next year’s reunion site.

10.   Bryan Waller proposed, seconded by Sam Hornreich, that the time frame for next reunion will be from the last week of September through the 2nd week of October, based on best price/availability of facilities. The proposal was approved by unanimous vote.

11.   There was a proposal from Sam Hornreich, seconded by Al Yancey, that the Association Officers remain in their respective position for another year. The proposal was approved by unanimous vote.

12.   There was a proposal to adjourn the meeting from Gordie McKibben, seconded by Bryan Waller, approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 1804.
