The USS Bergall Association Scholarship Program
(two boats, one crew)

USS BERGALL ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED - May 2018

USS Bergall Shipmates and Family (SS-320 & SSN-667)

The scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the award of our  $1,000.00 scholarship for 2018 to Mr. Nicholas Richard Robey, resident  of King George, VA, grandson of Shipmate Angelo Christiano, (71-75)  and currently in his second year of study at Radford University,  Radford, VA.  Nicholas had a strong academic record in high school and  has continued that success in college, currently maintaining a 3.36  Grade Point Average.   Coming from a multi-generational military  family that has experienced personal tragedy, Nicholas was inspired to  pursue a career in Social Work and helping veterans suffering from  Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  We congratulate Nicholas for  his many achievements and are pleased to support his pursuit of a  college education.  We are sure his parents and grandparents are very  proud of him and pleased to see him pursue his dream.

Help us continue this legacy with your contributions and spreading the  word about the program with fellow shipmates that may have children,  grand-children, etc. who may be interested and qualify for the program  in the future.

Dear USS Bergall Association Scholarship Committee,

I am sincerely honored to have been selected as the the recipient of the USS Bergall Association Scholarship for 2018.
Your generosity id greatly appreciated and will be used well toward my studies at Radford University here in Virginia.

I began my studies this year as a Junior and can already report that my academics are off to a fast paced start.   I was
officially accepted to Radford's Waldren School of Health to continue my pursuit of a social worker major.

The money you have graciously awarded me will be well spent for the purchase of my books for both semesters and
added to my account for residential room and board.

Ultimately my goal continues to be working for veterans, specifically those with mental health needs, and make a difference
helping those that have bravely served this great country of ours.

I hope to continue honoring my Grandfather, Angelo Christiano, with my continued academics and service to others.  My
educational pursuits would not be possible without generous scholarship sponsors like the USS Bergall Association .
Thank you for enabling this opportunity, your generosity is truly making a difference.

To all that have served on either of the USS Bergall submarines and your spouses, thank you for your service to our great
country.

Sincerely,

Nicholas Robey
