Some Memories Stick out!

Memories of Bennie Henderson

I was one of the spooks onboard the Northern stretch from September 80 to January 81. The cruise book brings back lots of great memories of the crew and the great times we had under less than enjoyable circumstances.

A few of my memories include:

Those many hours of sleep in the bomb room with Arko and Don keeping watch while George, Brownie and Shitcan kept us laughing.

Liberty in Scotland when Brownie bought a train ticket for the tire he found along side the road.

Nick and I shaving and putting on a ton of cologne to go to the movies on the messdecks one Saturday night.

The pie eating contest.

LCdr Beatty and Lt Wolfs, our two favorite officers.

...but, the best memory was when the Bergall pulled back into Norfolk after the run and I think about 2/3 of the crew came to my house for a party which lasted from Saturday night to sometime Sunday.

Here's a shot of Jim Riley, "the Grinch" and I from the Gauge book.

I had a great time with a great crew...
