	Downtown Louisville area:
Churchill Downs	There won't be racing at Churchill Downs in Aug/Sep, but the Kentucky Derby Museum is open and the film "The Greatest Race" is almost as good as being at the Derby (probably better--no crowd!).
Louisville Bats games	this is fun even if you aren't a big baseball fan; their stadium on the river is a jewel box of a place.
Louisville Slugger Museum Factory Tours
Frazier Arms Museum	Great for those that are interested in military items and weapons of all ages.
Muhammad Ali Center
Belle of Louisville	Cruise on the Ohio (this is a real paddle wheel boat that has been in operations as long as I can remember. It’s a nice river ride in the evening.
Falls of the Ohio Interpretive Center and Fossil Beds	Takes us back to the frontier days and the Lewis & Clark expedition

	Restaurants:
Cunningham’s	On 4th St.; inexpensive and something for everybody on the menu; a good place to go for lunch.
Otto's Cafe	Open for breakfast and lunch in the Seelbach Hotel, has a good buffet.
Jeffersonville Riverfront	Now has 4 restaurants: Kingfish, Buckhead's, Rocky's, and the Bristol.
Mike Linnig's	Always a good place to go in the summer, although it is quite a drive from downtown.

	Historical places:
Locust Grove	George Rogers Clark's home and farm located off River Road on Blankenbaker Lane, just a little east of downtown.
Patriot's Peace Memorial	on River Road, in the same vicinity as Locust Grove.
Cave Hill Cemetery	I know it seems weird to recommend this, but first time visitors are usually in awe. There is a Civil War section and monument that veterans might like. It is also one of the largest cemeteries in the country were many, many famous people are laid to rest. It is also a beautiful and quiet place to walk and reflect.

	Fun things:
Cherokee Park	A large park with rolling hills. The two lane road is separated so that cars use one lane and walkers, joggers, and bicyclists use the other. It is located in the highlands and is a beautiful park. For those bringing pets, this is a good place to let them stretch their legs and interact with other dogs. One full lap is 2.3 miles but there are short options and lots of woods trails.
Bardstown Road	The section near the city is a wonderful place to drive down and certain sections are even more fun to walk. Many unusual shops and lots and lots of restaurants fill this area.
Bardstown & E-Town	(Elizabeth, KY) – This is far off the beaten path and a 45 minute drive down I-65. Both are historic towns with lots to see. For those interested in seeing how whiskey and bourbon are made, several distilleries are located there including Jim Beam.
Six Flags	The amusement park is located just north of the airport. For those bringing children or grandchildren, you can’t go wrong.
