13 Feb. 1945  
1645

GUITARRO took station 10 miles on starboard hand.   BLOWER had reported searching north at 16 knots too.

   
1732 Dove for plane (Aircraft Contact #19).   Guess the jig is up because he stayed around awhile.
 

 

1902 Surfaced.   Headed north on two engines.   BASHAW and FLASHER reports indicate they are still making 17 knots.   All we can do is 16 in this sea.
   
2201 Made amplifying report to CTF-71.
   
14 Feb. 1945  
0140 Headed west to area.
   
0840 Dove for plane (Aircraft Contact #20).   He dropped five bombs.   No damage.
   
1145 Sighted plane (Aircraft Contact #21).   Visibility still very poor.
   
1600 Sighted GUITARRO.
   
1640 Surfaced.
   
2030 Received orders to proceed to Subic Bay for refit.   Our position greatly in doubt so went on to Indo-China Coast to obtain radar fix.
   
2230 Set course for joint-zone leading to Subic Bay.
   
15 Feb. 1945  
0100

SJ contact and then sighted a plane who passes 4,500 yards abeam (Aircraft Contact #22).

   
0130 Transmitted message giving ETA at point FAYE.   Had much trouble from jamming and interference.   Changed course to 180šT. while transmitting.
   
0225 Finally got a receipt for our message and came back to course 095šT for Subic Bay.
   
16 Feb. 1945  
0822 SD contact (aircraft contact #23), 10 miles.   Sighted plane at 9 miles, headed for us out of sun.   Believed he was friendly but took no chances.
