The 2004 USS Bergall Reunion in Saratoga Springs, NY !

Saturday night was the evening for the Convention's "Grand Dinner" but some of us turned to Andy and Carol Elnicki's great invitation to a cook-out at their camp site just down the road...

They had a wonderful spot at the park right next to a beautiful pond.   They had delightful colored lighting indicating where a sailor SHOULDN'T wander past.
(an ingenious idea as it was dark as sin, otherwise!   And did I mention a pond???)

The day was rather hard on a few and Barb found a marvelous spot to take it easy.

There's perimeter lights in the background but those are red sparks crossing in front of Mike as Sy tends the fire which sure felt good.    Mike came with Norm Ferland and Pat Murphy was there but behind the camera!   The flash of the camera belies the evening ambience.   The park was heavily wooded, the sky was overcast and it was just plain dark.   It was a traditional Japanese evening, "there was a definite nip in the air."

The evening settled into a great night of story telling and remembering crazy times that seem so recent.

Our webmaster was invited but had to make a temporary donation of body parts that were not going to be returned if he made note of some of the stories.    Who would think there was a crew member on the boat that could be counted on, at 3 in the morning (or whenever!), to be able to reach in his pocket and offer you a french fry... with ketchup or various other "treats"?   Oh, yummy!

It was a damn good time and spent with truly wonderful friends.   Andy and Carol really put a nice touch to a very pleasant day.   Rumor says Mike has all parts back so I guess it all turned out ok!   But I do remember hearing whispers of a raffle.   Maybe next time.
