The USS Bergall Association Scholarship Program
(two boats, one crew)
In October 2015 the USS Bergall Association created a scholarship program funded solely from donations from members and supporters of the USS Bergall Association to benefit young qualified Bergall descendants that are pursuing a post-secondary education.
The USS Bergall Association Scholarships for school year 2024-2025 were awarded in August 2024 to Emily Evans and Eli Maynard. A second scholarship in memory of Ed Gibbons, aka COB, was awarded. Additional details to follow.
The USS Bergall Association Scholarship for school year 2023-2024 was awarded in August 2023 to Emma Ried, grandaughter of Ted Iljes MM1(SS). Mike Rioedan (CO '87-'91) fully funded a second scholarship which was awarded to James Wynn, grandson of Larry Penny ETN2(SS).
The USS Bergall Association Scholarship for school year 2022-2023 was awarded in August 2022 to Mr William Lawerence Reese.
The USS Bergall Association Scholarship for school year 2021-2022 was awarded in August 2021 to James Wynn.
The USS Bergall Association Scholarship for school year 2020-2021 was awarded in August 2020 to Mr. Nicholas John McConnell.
The USS Bergall Association Scholarship for school year 2019-2020 was awarded in July 2019 to Ms. Victoria McCann.
The USS Bergall Association Scholarship for school year 2018-2019 was awarded in May 2018 to Mr. Nicholas Richard Robey.
The USS Bergall Association Scholarship for school year 2017-2018 was awarded in May 2017 to Mr. Benjamin Lowell Rust.
The USS Bergall Association Scholarship for school year 2016-2017 was awarded in May 2016 to Ms. Cassandra Helmer.

Applications for the 2024-2025 school year will be accepted from February 1, 2024 – May 31, 2024.

Donations to the scholarship fund are welcomed and will be kept separate from the association general fund.
Note the Bergall Association is not a 501C19 organization (non-profit), the money donated by any individual
is not tax deductible.
